Streitmatter-Tran is an artist based in Ho Chi Minh City. He received his degree in the Studio for Interrelated Media (SIM) at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston.

His work, solo and collaborative, has been exhibited in many countries, and his writing, education, criticism and curatorial projects include: The Rotterdam Dialogues at Witte de With, 5th Asian Museum Curators Conference, the Para/Site curatorial programme, Haus der Kulturen der Welt/Berlin, Times Museum in Guangzhou, China, Institutions for the Future (Shanghai), The Asian Art Space Network (AASN) and Art Sonje in Korea, 2014 Innovative Cities Forum in Tokyo and the co-curation of The Mekong platform for Sixth Asia Pacific Triennial (APT6) at the Queensland Art Gallery/GoMA in 2009. Lectures, panels and presentations at universitities include the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, The School of the Art Institute Chicago, Northern Illinois University, Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Singapore, National University Singapore (NUS), Bangkok University and Silapakorn University in Bangkok. He has been a panelist at art fairs including ARCO Madrid 2015, and the Gwangju Art Fair 2013.

He was a founding member of the Ho Chi Minh City-based arts collective, Mogas Station. In 2010 he founded DIA/PROJECTS, an experimental space for contemporary arts and research in HCMC and in 2015 co-founded Dia Projects Dong Khoi with Thanh Ha Mourgue d’Algue creating a new exhibition platform for ideas.

Richard is also Artist Lead in Vietnam for Brack.
